Corporate Volunteer Team-Building Days
Share a day on the farm with your co-workers! Urban Roots offers Corporate Volunteer days that bring groups of co-workers together on our urban farm to serve their community, and increase cohesion among the group in the process. During Corporate Volunteer days, Urban Roots staff will lead your group in team-building activities, educational games, a farm tour, and agricultural work.
On a Corporate Volunteer day, your group will gain:
Cost *: $500 for a 4-5 hour Corporate Volunteer Day
Why do we charge for corporate volunteer groups?
Corporate Volunteer days provide a unique team-building experience, specifically designed for each group. A significant amount of planning and resources goes into this process, which we could not provide without your support. Not only will your business' contribution allow us to provide your group with the best quality retreat possible, it will support the development of youth Farm Interns in the Urban Roots program.
* If you are a non-profit organization, you can be considered for a sliding scale by filling out the Corporate Volunteer Request for Sliding-Scale form and emailing it to us. Please title the subject of the email, "CV Sliding Scale Request."

Please contact us at least one month in advance to schedule your business retreat in order to allow sufficient time to coordinate our farm schedule.
Community Lunches
This summer four local chefs donated their time, talent and kitchen space to work teach Urban Farm Interns to prepare a meal centered around fresh produce straight off the Urban Roots farm.
Terry Wilson of Aquarelle, Jack Gilmore of Jack Allen's Kitchen, Rene Ortiz of La Condesa and Ethan Holmes of Snap Kitchen worked with small groups of youth throughout June and July.
After a morning spent cooking the chef and youth served the meal at the farm to roughly forty members of the community. The chef and youth were able to present their meal to the lunch guests and speak about their experience working together.
"It's a unique experience for the youth to get the opportunity to work in a commercial kitchen with a chef. They experience the food they grew in new and exciting ways," says Urban Roots VISTA Ashley Carker.

$3 per student for the after-school field trips (generally 1.5-2 hours)
$5 per student for the half-day field trips (generally 3-4 hours)

urban farm. That said, we are a non-profit with unique budget considerations regarding staff and youth
