The YouthLaunch Scholarship for Outstanding Service

Each year, YouthLaunch honors selected Texas high school seniors for their records of outstanding service and leadership. The search committee seeks students who have shown a long history of serving others, and who have developed an innovative way to address a community problem. Some of the past finalists in the scholarship competition have:

  • developed a healthcare resource booklet for low income senior citizens
  • created TAKS tutoring programs for failing middle school students
  • designed an intervention program for at-risk youth focusing on providing mentoring, tutoring, and encouragement
  • written socially-focused plays and skits to help curb underage alcohol use

Here's what some of our past recipients have said about thier experiences with the program:

"It felt good that people appreciated the few things I have done...It also re-ignited my fire to continue to serve my community in the years to come." --Ainsley Stromberg, 2004

"While society can lure us into more self-serving actions, organizations like YouthLaunch, by rewarding selfless service, redirects our true purpose in life." --Zachary Noblitt, 2005
